It won’t even recognize the disc format. After hunting around on the internet I found this in Nero’s support forums: “having installed it, now find there is NO BluRay player included in the bundle – it seems to have been removed with NO notice.
I’ll never buy a Nero product again. For background I have used Nero for years and usually purchase a newer version every couple of years. I have always enjoyed Nero and I feel I had gotten my money’s worth out of it.
I purchased Nero 16 and had the software for maybe weeks then they removed HD-audio support in an update, had to go back to previous version. To remove features from software you purchased after the fact is deplorable. It may have happened because of licensing issues or what not, but to pay for something to perform a specific function only to have it removed is a slap in the face. I will never purchase future versions of Nero. I gave “Tech Support” a single star only because I have no idea what such support might have been.
Certainly I haven’t needed any such support. And, hello??!! Wot’s “warmth” gotta do with Nero software. It’s not a lap robe or mittens, after all. Nero is a swell – or maybe the only – way of copying and transferring files to a CD or some area on the hard drive. I opted for the older version only because of price, but now suspect I should purchase a newer release in order to get the full benefit off all subsequent improvements.
There are no words in the English language to describe how badly this software fails. If I could give it zero stars I would. Nero MediaHome is the new feature you are buying over and it is still alpha software. You are still forced to use gracenote for a database. I can’t even get it to do a disc lookup it crashes. I can burn all kinds of files to all kinds of disks all day, oh yeah that is just a windows shell. So windows works. So you can burn your Blu-ray, you just have to put it somewhere else to make sure it worked. This is not “as advertised. I am disappointed by the limits of this software. And if to add insult to injury, Nero advertises its “new and improved Platinum in exactly the same packaging ” will handle Matroska. Additionally, Nero has dropped its Blu-Ray capability completely. Works as a burner and you can even make some videos. So it is not worth paying retail. I would say it is well worth that maybe a few bucks more but unless they bring back some of the old features I will be looking elsewhere for my next burning and editing program. However, it does have an application for taking downloaded internet videos and burning them to dvd!
