I am not sure it is a problem with the software, I think maybe it has to do with adding that selection as an option, but I am not sure how to do that. I am not sure why but occasionally my Word on the icon on the bottom toolbar for word count, will have the character with spaces total instead of the words. This is the best setting for me, and I would like it to be that way all the time. For whatever reason, it changes and goes back to the word total.

I have tried and tried to figure out how to change that to be the character count with spaces to show automatically on that icon instead of having to click on it to open it up, but cannot figure out how to change it.

I also ensured that all the latest updates were applied but that didn’t make any difference. The strange thing is that sometimes it is automatically there, and I don’t do anything to add it. It will be there for days, sometimes weeks, and then it just goes away.

Have to admit, the fact that this seems to “come ‘n go” is strange to say the least. The version I’m using to test this against is as shown in the screenshot.
